This indicator gives an estimate of the number of people with TB per 100,000 inhabitants. Taking all countries together, there were 126 cases per 100,000 inhabitants in 2013. While this figure was below 15 in North America and the European Union, it reached 280 cases per 100,000 inhabitants in sub-Saharan Africa; the seven worst affected countries in relative terms are found in this part of the world. The countries of South-East Asia have a high rate, as do Pakistan and North Korea. The rate is relatively high for the countries of Eastern Europe: the number of cases there is 8-10 times higher than in the countries of the European Union. In Moldova, the rate is higher than the global average.
