The anamorphisis proposed by the Cité de l'économie
will show you the world in a way you may have never seen it.

Select the indicator of your choice at the top left of the screen
and then click on the 'Run the animation' button.

The surface of each country on the map then becomes proportional to the chosen indicator.
Thus, two countries that have the same value for this indicator
will have the same surface after transformation.

For some indicators, you can follow the evolution of the map over time by clicking the ► button that appears at the bottom left of the map.

The indicator currently selected is:
"CO2 emissions, in tonnes, 1980-2011"

This indicator measures each country's carbon dioxide emissions in tonnes.
CO2 emissions, fuelled by the development of the emerging countries, almost doubled in the space of 30 years to reach 35 billion tonnes in 2011. India and China account for a third of global emissions; the United States for 15%; and Europe for 10%.
While the United States' emissions rose by 10% over the period, India and China's increased sixfold. As for the European Union, it reduced its CO2 emissions by 20%.
China, the United States and India are the countries that emit the most CO2.   Find out more
