Launch of the Ford Model T in the United States
This marked the start of rationalised industrial production, based on Frederick Taylor's theories on the division of labour. The introduction of assembly-line production of a standardised model broke numerous efficiency records, with a Model T rolling off the line every 10 seconds at the Highland Park factory! This in turn enabled Ford to double the minimum daily wage, to USD 5, and to slash selling prices. Some 15 million Model T Fords were to be produced through to 1927.
